Ancient Knowledge, Future Innovation
Art has the ability to connect generations.
I had the privilege of creating the feature artwork for the CAETS 2025: Generations Conference, exploring the relationship between ancient Aboriginal knowledge and the innovation that continues to shape our future.
The painting acknowledges the deep understanding our ancestors held of Country. Their knowledge extended across environmental sciences, engineering, astronomy, health, education and caring for the lands and waters that sustained them for thousands of years.
As each generation grows, our knowledge grows with it.
Technology continues to evolve, but so too does our understanding of how ancient knowledge and modern innovation can work together. This artwork reflects that connection, weaving together symbols of Queensland, the Torres Strait, technology, energy and innovation while honouring the enduring wisdom of our ancestors.
The artwork was later brought to life through animation by talented young A
ustralian animator Robbie Beresford, adding another dimension to the story and allowing it to reach new audiences.
I invite you to watch the animation and explore the story behind the artwork.
